Before the works...
The oak solid wood flooring in this Reigate house was looking tired and in serious need of restoration. During our initial survey, we did a thorough inspection of the floors & discussed with the client all possible options, followed by detailed quote with our floor sanding & repairs pricing.
Our client has decided to go for floor sanding and beading installation of 117 sqm oak solid wood flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.
How we completed this oak solid wood flooring renovation...
One of the challenges we faced during the floor works was to complete the floor works in stages, due to larger pieces of furniture, which could not be moved out.
Solid solid wood flooring floors are durable, long-lasting and therefore, we often find them in condition, which requires more work & preparation. Our team will re-inspect the floors for movement and in case it requires any repairs, prior to the restoration works.
During the solid oak floor sanding, the timber floors are going through a sanding process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to sealant application & between the coats, for perfect results.
When installing new floors an expansion gap of approx. 10 mm is left around the perimeter. This gap is either covered by new skirting boards, or in case the old ones remain - scotia or quadrant beading will be installed around the perimeter.
In this project we also supplied approx. 15 sqm and installed unfinished solid oak flooring to match the rest of the floors with solid oak scotia beading around the perimeter.
Our works included approx. 117 sqm oak solid wood flooring floor restoration and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Junckers HT700 lacquer (previous name Junckers HP Commerical).
Overall, this floor sanding project in Reigate was completed as originally planned and to the satisfaction of the client.
