The oak parquet flooring in this Guildford flat was looking tired and in desperate need of restoration. During our obligation-free survey, we did a thorough inspection of the floors & discussed with the client all possible options, followed by comprehensive quote with our floor sanding & repairs pricing for parquet flooring.

Our client has decided to go for floor fitting, floor sanding and beading installation of 37 sqm oak parquet flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.

How we completed this oak parquet flooring restoration...

One of the challenges we faced during the floor works was to complete the floor works in stages, due to bulky pieces of furniture, which could not be moved out.

After our floor fitters have checked all service, property & products details on site, including the amount of product supplied, they started with lifting existing tiles and its preparation for disposal to our waste facility.

Parquet flooring comprises of large quantity of small wooden pieces forming a pattern. Our team will carefully inspect the floors for movement and hollowness, and take steps on this stage, if required.

During the oak parquet flooring sanding the timber floors are going through a process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to the application of the sealant & between the coats, for excellent results.

Parquet flooring installation requires years of experience, skills and the right carpentry equipment. Depending on the overall condition of the subfloor, our initial assessment identifies if sepcific subfloor preparation will be required.

During this flooring project we laid 38 sqm of oak parquet flooring, specifically - Timbercraft Oak Parquet Flooring, Rustic, Unfinished, 70x22x280 Mm with glue-down installation in herringbone pattern with border around, over plied timber subfloor.

When laying new floors an expansion gap of approx. 10 mm must be left on the perimeter. This gap is either covered by new skirting boards, or in case the old ones remain - scotia or quadrant beading will be installed around the perimeter.

In this project the client decided to go with solid oak scotia beading around the perimeter.

As per our initial assessment, the subfloor was prepared with 18 mm GP plywood before the floor fitting works.

Our works included approx. 37 sqm oak parquet flooring floor renovation and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of Junckers HT700 lacquer.

Due to the change of level, after the new flooring was installed - our experienced, local Guildford floor fitters made sure all affected doors & door frames are trimmed to height and adjusted to new flooring.

Overall, this floor fitting project was completed as originally planned by our local to Guildford floor fitters and the new floors met the expectations and the delight of the client.
