Before the works...
The finish of the merbau solid wood flooring in the Brentford pub The Griffin was looking seriously worn out and in urgent need of restoration. During our initial survey, we did a thorough inspection of the wooden floors & discussed with the client all possible options, followed by detailed quote with our floor sanding & repairs pricing.
Our client has decided to go for floor sanding of 28 sqm merbau solid wood flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.
How we completed this merbau solid wood flooring renovation...
One of the challenges we faced during this project was to complete the floor works in stages, due to bulky pieces of furniture, which could not be moved out.
Solid solid wood flooring floors are durable, long-lasting and therefore, we often find them in condition, which requires more work & care. Our team will re-inspect the floors for movement and in case it requires any repairs, prior to the renovation works.
During the solid merbau floor renovation, the entire timber surface is going through a sanding process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to the application of the sealant & between the coats, for perfect results.
Our works included approx. 28 sqm merbau solid wood flooring floor renovation and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Junckers HT700 lacquer (previously Juckers HP Commercial).
Overall, this floor sanding project in Brentford was completed as scheduled and to the delight of the client.

Did you know this about merbau flooring?
Merbau has dark rich red colour and sometimes, our clients will ask us to whiten it or "bleach" the merbau floors. We do not do that, to merbau. We tried it, but it's stubborn and we recommend to keep you merbau floors in the natural colour domain. You can check for more information our flooring guide about wood timbers.
