Before the works...

The oak engineered wood flooring in this Richmond house was looking tired and in urgent need of refinishing. During our obligation-free survey, we did detailed inspection of the floors and discussed with the client all possible options.

Our client has decided to go for floor sanding of oak engineered wood flooring and finishing the floors in satin Lacquer. In addition, part of the floors in the property was completely replaced with unfinished oak engineered flooring, matching the rest of the floors, which was also sealed with the same finish.

How we made it happen...

After our local Richmond floor fitters have checked all property & service details on site, they started with lifting parts of the existing floors, which required replacement and preparation these areas for disposal to our waste facility.

In this project we also installed engineered wood flooring (matching plank) throughout 2 bedrooms and a landing, which also involved replacement of nosings all around the perimeter.

Our stairs fitting service is inclusive of supplying matching the floor stair nosing (tongue-and-groove or click). For real wood products we also stain the nosing (when necessary) to match the finish of the planks.

Our works included oak floor renovation of approx. 240 sqm engineered wood flooring and finishing in 3 coats satin Bona Traffic lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of Lacquer.

Overall this Richmond floor renovation project was completed as planned and to the satisfaction of the client.

Did you know this about oak flooring?

Oak wood is a durable and strong hardwood timber known for its distinct grain patterns and wide range of colors, from light brown to reddish tones. It has a coarse texture with prominent grain markings, making it a popular choice for furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and structural applications. Oak is highly resistant to wear, moisture, and insect damage, offering long-lasting durability. It takes staining in dark, light, greys and whites well, with lacquer and oil-based finishes. Another reason that makes it the most popular timber for wooden flooring offering versatility in both traditional and contemporary designs.
