Before the works...
The oak parquet flooring overlay in this Kingston house was looking tired and in good time for restoration. During our initial survey, we did a thorough inspection of the floors and discussed with the client all possible options, followed by itemised quote with our floor sanding & repairs prices for parquet flooring.
Our client has decided to go for parquet floor sanding and gap filling of oak parquet flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer, with scotia beading replacement around perimter.
How we completed the floor works...
After our floor sanding experts have checked all property & service details on site, they started with lifting existing scotia beading, clearing the floors from remaining items and preparing for the restoration works.
When laying new floors an expansion gap of approx. 10 mm is left around the perimeter. This gap is either covered by new skirting boards, or in case the old ones remain - scotia or quadrant beading will be installed around the perimeter.
In this project the client decided to go with matching the floor solid scotia beading around the perimeter.
Our works included wood floor restoration of approx. 43 sqm parquet flooring and finishing in 2 coats matt Lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Lacquer.
We also carried out gap filling as part of the floor restoration process. We aim to apply the resin filler with saw dust in late hours of the working day, so it settles properly overnight and in case it is needed we can repeat it on the following morning, if required. The resin gap filling is after that removed by next step of the finishing process with medium grids.
Overall, this parquet flooring restoration project in Kingston was completed as scheduled and to the satisfaction of the client.
