Before the works...
The pine floorboards in this Dulwich house was looking tired and in urgent need of refinishing. During our initial survey, we did a thorough inspection of the floors & discussed with the client all possible options, followed by detailed quote with our floor sanding & repairs pricing.
Our client has decided to go for floor sanding, staining, gap filling and floor repairs of 51 sqm pine floorboards and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.
How we completed this pine floorboards renovation...
The thickness of the pine victorian floorboards used for properties is approx. 20 mm when laid. Pine timber shrinks with the time and also becomes thinner every time the floors are restored. The minimal thickness, after which floorboards cannot be restored any more is approx. 15 mm.
At this stage our team will inspect in detail the thickness of the floorboards and also advise if any further repairs or floorboards replacement may be recommended prior to the floor restoration works.
During the floorboards restoration, the original floors are going through a process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to the application of the sealant & between the coats, for excellent results.
Our works included approx. 51 sqm pine floorboards floor restoration and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Bona Mega lacquer.
Our floor refinishing service begins with detailed inspection of the floors and any repairs to the floorboards will be completed in this initial stage. In this project we lifted & refitted approx. 2 sqm of original floorboards.
We also carried out gap filling as part of the floor refinishing process. We aim to apply the resin filler with saw dust in late hours of the working day, so it settles properly overnight and we can repeat it on the following morning, if required. The filler is after that removed by next stages of the floor sanding process in medium grids.
Our team prepared few samples on the unfinished sanded timber surface for the client to approve prior to application of the finish. The client chose to go for staining their floorboards in beautiful medium oak colour to compliment their interior.
Overall, this floor restoration project in Dulwich was completed as scheduled and to the satisfaction of the client.
