Before the works...

In this Fulham house we installed approx. 35 sqm sqm of oak parquet flooring. During our initial survey, we did detailed inspection of the floors and discussed with the client all possible options.

Our client has decided to go for floor fitting, subfloor preparation, gap filling, floor sanding, and install Timbercraft Oak Parquet Flooring, Rustic with around perimeter.

How we made it happen...

After our floor installers have checked all service, property & products details on site, including amount of products supply, they started with lifting existing hardwood flooring and its preparation for disposal to our waste facility.

During this project we laid 35 sqm of parquet flooring, specifically - Timbercraft Oak Parquet Flooring, Rustic with glue-down installation in herringbone pattern with border around, over plied timber subfloor.

Parquet flooring laying requires years of experience, skills and the right carpentry tools. Depending on the overall condition of the subfloor, our initial assessment identifies if sepcific subfloor preparation will be required.

In this project we also fitted parquet flooring (matching plank) throughout 2 steps on staircase - step, nosing and riser. Our stairs fitting service is inclusive of supplying matching the floor stair nosing (tongue-and-groove or click). For real wood products we also stain the nosing (when necessary) to match the finish of the planks.

As per our initial assessment, the subfloor was prepared with 18 mm GP plywood before the floor installation.

Our works included wood floor sanding of approx. parquet flooring and finishing in 2 coats Lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Lacquer.

We also carried out gap filling as part of the floor renovation process. We aim to apply resin filler in late hours of the working day, so it settles properly overnight and in case it is needed we can repeat it on the following day , if required. The resin gap filling is after that removed by next stages of the floor sanding process in medium grids .

Overall the project was completed as planned and to the satisfaction of the client.

It has a coarse texture with prominent grain markings, making it a popular choice for furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and structural applications. Oak is highly resistant to wear, moisture, and insect damage, offering long-lasting durability. It takes staining in dark, light, greys and whites well, with lacquer and oil-based finishes. Another reason that makes it the most popular timber for wooden flooring offering versatility in both traditional and contemporary designs.
