Before the works...
The walnut parquet flooring in this Wandsworth house was looking tired and in urgent need of refinishing. During our obligation-free survey, we did detailed inspection of the wooden floors & discussed with the client all possible options, followed by detailed quote with our floor sanding & repairs pricing.
Our client has decided to go for floor sanding and gap filling of 37 sqm walnut parquet flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.
How we completed this walnut parquet flooring renovation...
Parquet flooring comprises of a large amount of small wooden blocks forming a pattern. Our floor men will carefully inspect the floors for movement and hollowness, and take steps on this stage, if required.
During the walnut parquet flooring renovation the entire area is going through a process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to sealing & between the coats, for perfect results.
Our works included approx. 37 sqm walnut parquet flooring floor sanding and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Bona Mega lacquer.
We also carried out gap filling as part of the floor restoration process. We aim to apply the resin filler with saw dust in the end of the working day, so it settles properly overnight and in case it is needed we can repeat it on the following day, if required. The putty is after that removed by next stages of the floor sanding process in medium grids.
Overall, this floor restoration project in Wandsworth was completed as originally planned and to the delight of the client.

Did you know this about walnut flooring?
Walnut wood is a premium hardwood timber known for its rich, dark brown color with purplish or gray undertones. It has a straight grain, though it can sometimes feature attractive wave patterns, adding to its aesthetic appeal. Walnut is valued for its smooth texture and excellent workability, making it a popular choice for high-end furniture, cabinetry and wooden flooring. It is durable and resistant to warping, with a natural luster that enhances its luxurious look. To preserve its natural dark brown colour after restoration with lacquered finish, walnut requires use of a specific primer to be applied, after the floor sanding and sealing.
