Before the works...
The oak versailles parquet flooring panels in the Marriot Hotel, Park Lane in Central London was looking tired and in desperate need of renovation. During our free site survey, we did detailed inspection of the wooden floors & discussed with the client all possible choices, followed by itemised quote with our floor restoration & repairs pricing for parquet flooring.
Our client has decided to go for floor sanding and staining of 161 sqm oak parquet flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.
How we carried out this oak parquet flooring renovation...
One of the challenges we experienced during this project was to complete the floor works in stages, due to larger pieces of furniture, which could not be moved out.
Parquet flooring comprises of a large amount of small wooden blocks forming a pattern. Our floor men will carefully inspect the floors for loose blocks and hollowness, and take further steps on this stage, if required.
During the oak parquet flooring restoration the entire timber surface is going through a process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to sealing & between the coats, for perfect results.
Our works included approx. 161 sqm oak parquet flooring floor restoration and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of Junckers HT700 lacquer (previously known as Junckers HP Commercial).
A number of colour samples were provided on a sanded surface for the client to review and approve, prior to application of the colour and finishing the floors. The client decided to go with parquet flooring staining in dark wenge colour.
Overall, the floor restoration project at the Marriot Hotel was completed as planned and to the satisfaction of the client.

Oak wood is a durable and strong hardwood timber known for its distinct grain patterns and wide range of colors, from light brown to reddish tones. It has a coarse texture with prominent grain markings, making it a popular choice for furniture, flooring, cabinetry, and structural applications. Oak is highly resistant to wear, moisture, and insect damage, offering long-lasting durability. It takes staining in dark, light, greys and whites well, with lacquer and oil-based finishes. Another reason that makes it the most popular timber for wooden flooring offering versatility in both traditional and contemporary designs.
