Before the works...
The requirements of Hanover Primary School in Islington was to replace approx. 42 sqm of merbau parquet flooring damaged by water leak with the same product. During our initial survey, we did a thorough inspection of the floors, discussed with the client all possible options and provided sample of the product.
Our client has decided to go for parquet floor fitting with subfloor preparation in herringbone pattern with border around and finishing in commercial grade lacquered finish.
How we made it happen...
After our floor installers have checked all service, property & products details on site, including amount of products supply, they started with lifting existing parquet flooring and its preparation for disposal to our waste facility.
During this project we laid 42 sqm of parquet flooring, specifically - Timbercraft Merbau Parquet Flooring, Natural, Unfinished, 70x18x280 Mm with glue-down installation in herringbone pattern with border around, over concrete subfloors.
Parquet flooring fitting requires many years of experience, skills and the right carpentry equipment. Depending on the overall condition of the subfloor, our initial assessment identifies if sepcific subfloor preparation will be required.
As per our initial assessment, the subfloor was prepared with smoothing compound before the floor installation.
Our works included sanding, gap filling and sealing of approx. 42 sqm parquet flooring and finishing in 3 coats matt Lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of Lacquer.
Overall this school parquet flooring replacement project was completed as scheduled and to the satisfaction of the client.

Did you know this about merbau flooring?
Merbau has dark rich red colour and sometimes, our clients will ask us to whiten it or "bleach" the merbau floors. We do not do that, to merbau. We tried it, but it's stubborn and we recommend to keep you merbau floors in the natural colour domain.
